RULE 30(e). REVIEW BY WITNESS;

CHANGES; SIGNING

CORE CONCEPT

The opportunity to review and correct the transcript is

available upon timely request.

APPLICATIONS

Request to Review

To obtain an opportunity to review and correct the transcript, the deponent or a party must make a request prior to the completion of the deposition.

Submission of Changes

If a review is requested, the witness must submit a signed statement describing any changes within 30 days of submission by the officer. The changes are then attached to the transcript.

Changes in Form

Changes in form, such as typographic errors, are entered into the transcript with an explanation as to the reason for the change.

Changes in Substance

The witness may also make changes in the substance of the testimony, which are also entered into the transcript with an explanation as to the reason for the change. With changes in substance, the deposition can be reconvened." A deponent who changes the answers may be impeached with the former answers. 25

RULE 30(f). CERTIFICATION AND FILING BY OFFICER;

EXHIBITS; COPIES; NOTICE OF FILING

CORE CONCEPT

The officer must certify that the witness was duly sworn and that the deposition transcript was a true record of the testimony given by the deponent.

APPLICATIONS

Certificate

The officer shall prepare a written certificate to accompany the record of the deposition. The certificate should indicate that the witness was sworn, that the deposition is a true and accurate record of the testimony, and whether review of the record was requested.
